4 Outfits, One Skirt: The Highland Ruffle Edition

The Highland skirt is a summer must-have - a true style treat you’ll love to wear.
It’s easy to fall for the shorter version with two ruffles, while the longer length enchants with beautifully balanced volume that flatters the silhouette. The softly flowing ruffles, cut in a graceful arc, bring lightness and movement to every step.

Its secret? A clever play on proportions - the final tier is much longer than the others, creating a unique, elegant shape that sets it apart.

Fabric Recommendations for the Highland Pattern

We’ve shown you the Highland skirt in a variety of fabrics: from Reflet tencel satin and water repellent crinkled effect fabric to the playful lunares polka dot poplin featured in our recent La Flamenca capsule.

Viscose poplin is a standout choice for the Highland pattern - light, fluid, and easy to press. It’s especially suited to Highland’s curved hems, where crisp pressing makes all the difference. This fabric gives the skirt a graceful movement, with ruffles that fall softly and add just the right amount of weight.

But more structured fabrics work beautifully too - dupion or  the water repellent crinkled effect canvas fabric offer a bolder silhouette with less drape. And don’t worry about bulk: the Highland skirt is cleverly designed without gathers, and the placement of the ruffles avoids adding volume at the hips.

To celebrate our stunning Highland skirt this summer, I chose our bold and vibrant Abstract Rose printed viscose poplin. A statement fabric for a statement piece!

I’ve styled 4 unique looks - from effortlessly casual to boldly fashion-forward - to show just how versatile this skirt can be.

Let yourself be inspired by the many ways to wear the printed Highland skirt!

4 Outfit Ideas with a Ruffled Floral Maxi Skirt

CITY BOHO CHIC

A pretty Blush camisole in dupion paired with a straw hat creates that effortless elegance perfect for hot summer days. Add clog-style sandals - this season’s must-have - and a beautiful leather tote, and you’ve got the ideal look for a stroll around town, stylish and put-together, without veering into beachwear territory.

A MIDSUMER NIGHT'S DREAM

This look is all about sophistication: think black cat-eye sunglasses, a feminine Blush camisole in white Poésie viscose jacquard with delicate embroidery, and the sharp structure of a short Métropolis jacket in tailored black wool.

An elegant outfit—perfect for a wedding or a romantic dinner date. Finish it off with statement heels (we love the asymmetric twist) and a vintage designer handbag. The accessories say it all. 😉

COOL KID ATTITUDE

A fun, laid-back look for those who love fashion without taking it too seriously.
Swap the Rafale windbreaker in light denim for a slightly oversized, knotted tee. Add in skate-style trainers - surprisingly understated and ultra comfy - and finish with a cap (logo or not, your choice) for just the right dose of cool.

WILD WILD WEST

This look is all about making a statement: a felt hat, cowboy boots, a studded belt, and the Skyline shirt in light denim - I went full-on Carter cowboy style (and had way too much fun doing it, haha).

But you don’t need to pile on every accessory to give your outfit a Wild West twist. The key piece - after the Highland skirt, of course - are the cowboy boots. Go for a classic, straight-up style in leather rather than suede (gorgeous, but a bit more delicate).

The printed Highland skirt is far more versatile than it first appears. While it looks stunning in a solid colour, I couldn’t resist playing with our seasonal print, Abstract Rose -its swirling, almost hypnotic ruffles bring so much movement and character to the silhouette.

Will you fall for the charm of this bold design? With two print variations to choose from, it’s the perfect way to add a statement piece to your hand-sewn wardrobe.

I can’t wait to see how you make it your own!
