❓ Who is the MELLOW pattern for?

MELLOW is a beginner-friendly trouser pattern, designed to make sewing your first pair of trousers an enjoyable experience. With its straightforward construction, detailed instruction booklet and free step-by-step video tutorial, you'll be guided through every stage with confidence.

The main techniques you'll learn are assembling the Italian pockets and constructing the waistband, featuring a flat front and a wide elasticated back for comfort and a polished finish

❓ What sizes are available for the MELLOW trousers?

MELLOW is available in sizes 34 to 52.

A finished garment measurement chart can be found in the product photos to help you choose the right size. We've also photographed MELLOW on a range of body shapes, making it easier to see how the trousers fit on different silhouettes.

The pattern has been thoroughly tested across the full size range to ensure a comfortable, flattering fit. MELLOW is designed with a relaxed thigh and is not intended to be a slim or cigarette-leg trouser.

If you're between sizes, or prefer a slightly more fitted look, we recommend sizing down.

❓ Are seam allowances included?

Yes, seam allowances are included in the pattern.

They are 1cm.

❓ How much fabric do I need to sew MELLOW?

For a width of 140 cm:

• sizes 34-36: 160 cm

• sizes 40-42: 170 cm

• size 44: 180 cm

• sizes 46-52: 200 cm

You will also need:

• 10cm of fusible interfacing like Vlieseline G710

• 48cm to 74cm of 3 cm wide elastic

• 4.50m of piping if you wish to highlight the side stripe

If you are making the side stripe in a different fabric from the main fabric, plan for a 1m length piece.

❓Can I use a contrasting fabric for the side stripe?

Absolutely! It's a beautiful way to personalise your MELLOW trousers and create a truly unique version.

Experiment with a printed fabric, a different texture or a contrasting colour to make the tuxedo-inspired side stripe stand out. To make customising easy, the pattern also includes the fabric requirements for the side stripe on its own.

Absolutely! You can easily adjust the leg length to suit your height or simply create the style you want. MELLOW is a free pattern, so don't hesitate to get creative and make it your own.

If you'd like to turn MELLOW into shorts, we recommend sewing a toile first to check the fit. You may also want to add a little extra width through the thigh to achieve a relaxed, flattering drape.
