Sewing pattern tutorial: How to sew the Tempête Blouse?

With its draped collar and lovely pleats sewn at the shoulders, the Tempête blouse has undeniable charm. Available in a long-sleeved version with a buttoned cuff and pleats embellishing the sleeve hem, you can also sew the Tempête blouse in a sleeveless version, with the armholes finished by facings provided in your sewing pattern.

For the best result with the draped effect, we recommend fabrics such as viscose twill, viscose poplin, as well as Botanica or Coquillage laces. Your blouse will have a bit more structure, and the collar will be beautifully highlighted. Due to the garment’s construction, I don’t recommend lining your blouse, but rather wearing a matching camisole underneath, such as the Blush camisole pattern sewn in cotton voile.

The pattern is classified as intermediate level, and we guide you through each step of sewing the long-sleeved version in a dedicated free sewing tutorial. The technical points covered in this tutorial video include:

  • Sewing pleats
  • Sewing a neckline facing
  • Making small hems
  • Sewing an invisible back zip
  • Sewing a sleeve in two parts with an opening at the sleeve hem
  • Attaching a cuff

Happy sewing!
