Sewing the CURSIVE wrap top: video tutorial for sewing knit fabric

Want to sew a feminine and comfortable wrap top? Discover CURSIVE by Maison Fauve, a sewing pattern designed for knit fabrics, featuring a high neckline, a fitted silhouette and a long tie belt to define the waist.

Suitable for an intermediate sewing level, CURSIVE is the perfect addition to your transitional wardrobe, bringing an extra layer of warmth to your dresses and tops.

In this free sewing tutorial, you’ll learn how to master the key techniques used to sew the pattern:

  • sewing open darts,
  • assembling the high neckline,
  • attaching the facing and tie belt,
  • creating neat hems on knit fabrics.

To help you get the best results from your project, here are a few tips for sewing with knit fabrics:

For the CURSIVE wrap top, choose a stretch knit fabric such as cotton rib knit, viscose jersey, cut-and-sew knit or stretch Milano. Woven fabrics, even those containing elastane, are not suitable for this pattern.

Use a jersey needle and select a stretch stitch on your sewing machine.

If you’re using an overlocker, adjust the differential feed to help maintain the stretch and prevent the fabric from becoming distorted.

For the hems, we recommend using a stretch twin needle for a neat, professional-looking finish.
