Sewing Tutorial: The Tremplin Cargo Trousers

Cargo pants are the perfect sewing project for sewers who love clothes with elaborate construction work and lots of details: the straight cut follows the silhouette without molding the leg, the knee is noted by darts for definition, the slanted pockets and flaps are enhanced with a carefully designed cutout, the side patch pockets do not puff out but have pleats that treat the eye, and the lower leg can be tightened with elastic under the drawstring, a buttoned tightening tab added or remain straight. For a perfect fit, I recommend that you make a toile in order to properly validate the proportions of your trousers (and the measurements of the finished garment will help you to properly assess the needs according to your stature).

In this video sewing tutorial, we will take each step of the assembly of Tremplin step-by-step. The sewing techniques we will cover are:
  • Sewing pleats
  • Sewing an Italian pocket
  • Sew rounded edges and darts
  • Flatten pockets
  • Sew darts
  • Sew a fly zip

Happy sewing!
