L’Avventura – Fall 2025 Collection & FAQ
L’Avventura pays homage to a timeless vision of style: Italian tailoring that is at once structured and full of life, brought to the screen in the 1960s and ’70s by the icons of auteur cinema.
The collection balances a subtle tension - assertive masculinity softened by fragility, elegance without rigidity, a presence that moves through the frame with effortless grace, never staged. The silhouette flows with ease, the tailoring is impeccable, and the attitude carries a touch of dramatic nonchalance.
The Maison Fauve wardrobe borrows these codes and reimagines them with a feminine twist, creating a look that is contemporary, sharp, and fiercely free. The silhouette is graphic, defined by the contrast between precise tailoring and the fluidity of fabric. Each piece becomes an expression of attitude - of what is concealed, restrained, or playfully subverted: a tailored detail on a skirt, a masculine collar on a feminine garment…
Coats borrowed from the masculine wardrobe, reimagined trousers, perfectly balanced skirts, and fluid blouses. Precious fabrics - wool, tweed, viscose jacquard, poplin, lace, and silk dupion - are carefully chosen to elevate each design while ensuring a flawless sewing experience.

The new patterns from the L'Avventura collection
Each pattern in the L’Avventura collection carries the Maison Fauve signature: delicately drawn necklines, thoughtfully constructed back details, pleats and darts for a flawless cut, elegant pockets, and lines refined down to the smallest detail.
The designs speak to one another and combine effortlessly, creating a coherent and sophisticated handmade wardrobe.
A subtle motif weaves its way through the collection like a refrain: the delicate outline of a swallow’s wing - tracing a neckline, adorning a back, sketched across a cuff, or appearing in a fleeting detail on a pocket.
The MARCELLO coat
MARCELLO slips on like a borrowed men’s coat, yet its belted fit shapes an unmistakably feminine silhouette. Knee-length and collarless, it features a softly curved neckline that rises at the nape and a cinched waist for definition. Its button-free construction enhances the relaxed yet assured look, elevated by refined tailoring at the shoulders and back.
Drawing inspiration from 1960s Italian tailoring, MARCELLO balances the strength of sharp shoulders with the fluidity of drape - a deceptively androgynous essential for uncompromising elegance.
The VOLATA blouse
Poetic and airy, VOLATA charms with its pure lines, softened by the delicacy of its swallow-wing neckline at both front and back. Effortlessly chic in solids or prints, it adapts with ease to every season and mood.
The VITTORIA shirt
Inspired by the classic men’s shirt, VITTORIA reinvents this wardrobe essential with a contemporary, feminine twist. Featuring dropped shoulders, a straight, slightly relaxed fit, a polo-style button placket, a neat collar, and signature swallow-shaped inserts, it strikes the perfect balance between ease and elegance. Its length is just right for slipping casually into a skirt or trousers
The ANDREA trousers
With its barrel-leg cut - gently rounded through the leg and tapered at the ankle - ANDREA blends tailoring precision with modern ease. Front piped pockets, a sharp front crease, and back patch pockets adorned with Maison Fauve’s signature swallow detail give structure and character. The waistband sits neatly at the natural waist, striking the perfect balance between style and comfort
The SILVANA skirt
The SILVANA skirt borrows from the codes of menswear, boldly reimagining tailored trousers in an ultra-feminine form. With its subtly flared cut, timeless midi length, front slit, Italian pockets, and slim belted waist, it strikes a perfect balance of elegance and ease. At the back, an invisible zip and shaping darts ensure a flawless fit.

Questions about the new patterns?
I’ve fallen in love with a pattern, but the sewing level worries me a bit… will I be able to make it?
The recommended sewing level is based on several criteria:
-
Number of pattern pieces – the more pieces, the greater the chance of mistakes if precision is lacking.
-
Techniques involved – some require more experience than others.
-
Adjustments needed – for example, adapting a blouse to your shape is usually simpler than fitting trousers.
ALL of our patterns come with a free video tutorial, which you can watch even before purchasing. These tutorials are highly detailed: I walk you through every step of the sewing process. In the dedicated articles, you’ll also find a list of the techniques you’ll encounter when making the pattern.
If you’ve fallen in love with a design but feel unsure about your level, see it as the perfect chance to learn new skills. You can always make a toile (a practice version in a regular fabric) first, to get comfortable with the construction and techniques before sewing your final garment.
How do the patterns fit?
Each pattern’s product page and instruction booklet include details on the cut of the design, along with the size worn by our models.
To help you choose your size, you have two key tools:
-
The size chart – shows the recommended size based on your body measurements.
-
The finished garment measurement chart – shows the actual dimensions of the garment once sewn.
- These two charts differ because of ease: the extra centimetres added to ensure comfort and to create the intended silhouette.
-
You’ll also find a dedicated article in our Journal to guide you in choosing the right size → See the sewing guide...
Can I easily adapt the patterns to my body shape?
We'll help you adjust your patterns with a free, comprehensive guide that you can download for free from our website. The patterns have more lines for shortening and lengthening to adjust your height. → How to adapt patterns to your body shape...
Can I easily shorten/lengthen the patterns?
Yes, each pattern has shorten/lengthen lines to guide you.
For Silvana: These lines will also allow you to see where you can might need to modify the height of the slit.
For Andrea this line will allow you to manage the length of the trousers according to your height without altering the specific barrel leg cut of the trousers.
For Marcello, the line passes over the outline of the piped pocket. You will absolutely have to keep the dimensions of this one and transfer it identically to your new pattern.
Can the Vittoria shirt be lengthened into a dress?
Yes, absolutely! The pattern has comfortable ease, so it will give you a lovely shirt-dress style when worn belted. All you need to do is lengthen the pattern along the lines marked for that purpose. For fabric requirements, simply double the amount you’re adding to the length. For example: if you extend the blouse by 30 cm, order an extra 60 cm of fabric on top of the recommended yardage for your chosen size.
How do I transform the Volata blouse into a dress?
This design has a more fitted cut than the Vittoria shirt. I recommend reading the article on our site about transforming a blouse into a dress (using the Cicadella blouse pattern as an example). And don’t forget—always make a toile before cutting into a precious fabric when adapting a pattern! → See Cicadella's hack...
Can the legs of the Andrea trousers be altered to make them fit better?
In sewing, anything is possible! That said, the lines and proportions of the Andrea pattern are drafted for its specific shape. Transforming it would require quite a few adjustments to achieve a balanced, harmonious cut.
Instead, I suggest exploring some of our other trouser patterns including Belem – with a flared leg that narrows at the ankle, but without the barrel-leg cut. And if you like pleated trousers then Brooklyn is a great option.
Is it easy to alter the Volata blouse for a deeper neckline?
This pattern went through many adjustments to achieve the perfect balance of volume and shape. Of course, you’re free to alter the neckline, but it may affect the overall harmony of the cut. If you take a look at the photos of the blouse being worn, you’ll see that the neckline is not restrictive at all.
Questions on the new fabrics?
Can I sew Marcello without lining, as a mid-season overcoat?
Yes, absolutely! Don't forget to check out the video tutorial, which, using the example of the Pam coat, shows you how to sew an unlined coat with pretty finishes.
How do I know if the new fabrics will be suitable for my future projects?
In this article, we describe the specific characteristics of each fabric, as well as the recommended Maison Fauve patterns for sewing them. We also provide the fabric weight on each product sheet to help you assess whether it's compatible with your pattern. A short video available directly on the product sheet and on our YouTube channel will give you a glimpse of the fabric in motion.
You can also order fabric samples to discover the look, feel, and hand of our fabrics for yourself.
How do I choose the right fabric for my Maison Fauve pattern?
We detail the composition, weight and drape of the fabric on each product sheet, as well as the recommended patterns.
-
MARCELLO : choose wools (fluid loden, flannel, herringbone or basket weave tweed) for a beautiful drape.
-
ANDREA : is ideal for tailored wools, dupion and denim.
-
VOLATA & VITTORIA : Opt for soft fabrics like viscose poplin or Tencel satin. Lace is a lovely alternative.
-
SILVANA : ideal with soft or flowing fabrics (light flannel, tailored wool or dupion) to highlight the slit and the drape of the skirt. The Poésie viscose jacquard is also a nice choice.
You can also order a sample to experience the fabric’s texture and drape.
How do I care for these precious fabrics?
As these fabrics are 100% wool or wool blends, we recommend using a specialist dry cleaner to maintain their quality. Avoid machine washing or tumble drying, as this may cause felting or affect the drape. Care instructions are provided on each product page - following them will help preserve the beauty and longevity of your handmade garment.
Are the fabrics difficult to sew?
The wools in this collection are high quality, with enough structure to make them easy to work with. Soft loden, wool cloth, and basket-weave tweed are especially enjoyable for hand-sewn coat projects. For herringbone tweed, be sure to overlock the edges to prevent fraying. Dupion is a very straightforward fabric to cut and sew. Poplin, being lighter, needs careful cutting but doesn’t slip and is still easy to handle. Daphne lace, a cotton and polyamide blend, holds its shape beautifully and is also easy to sew.
Should coats made from these fabrics be lined?
For a flawless finish and optimal comfort, we recommend lining garments sewn in our wool fabrics when specified on the pattern. The 100% cupro lining is ideal: soft, breathable, and suitable for fine fabrics.
For MARCELLO, the lining option is included in the pattern, you can choose a neutral shade or dare to contrast.
Do I need to apply fusible interfacing to all the pieces when sewing the MARCELLO coat in these fabrics?
This is not necessary. Follow the instructions in the booklet: iron on only the intended pieces (facings, waistband, neckline). These wools have a beautiful natural hold and do not require full interfacing.
Why won’t some fabrics be restocked?
Certain fabrics - especially our wools - come from dormant stock sourced from leading fashion houses and are no longer in production. This makes them truly unique. Once they’re sold out, they can’t be reordered.
Will I be able to find haberdashery and buttons to match these new fabrics with their special colours?
Absolutely - we’ve thought of everything! Each fabric comes with a matching sewing thread, and we’ve added new zips designed to blend as closely as possible with the fabric colours.
Our button range has also expanded: you’ll now find shades that coordinate perfectly with your favourite fabrics. All our buttons are made in France, and for every new Maison Fauve colour, we provide the manufacturer with the Pantone code - so you can be sure of a flawless match.
We hope you enjoy exploring these new additions, designed to help you build a handmade wardrobe you’ll love to wear every day.
