FAQ's – Clash The Rhythm

❓ When will the Clash The Rhythm capsule be released?

The capsule goes live on Tuesday, April 21st at 9am.

❓ Who is this sewing capsule for?

It’s designed for intermediate to advanced sewists, but motivated beginners can absolutely take part thanks to the all-in-one sewing box. The fabrics are approachable, and every pattern comes with a free step-by-step videos.

❓ Is the Twist pattern difficult to sew?

The Twist draped dress has only a few pattern pieces and pleats that are straightforward to construct. The more technical elements include inserting the invisible side zip and assembling the front skirt panel. Everything is clearly explained in both the pattern booklet and the video tutorial.

❓ Can I modify the Twist dress pattern?

Adjusting the length is simple, whether you prefer a mini or a maxi version. More advanced changes require a bit more care.

The invisible zip cannot be removed, and moving it or changing sides would require significant alterations. As for turning it into a top… it’s not off the table
For more complex modifications:

  • Can I lengthen the sleeve and make a long sleeve? Extending the sleeves beyond a mid-length involves reworking the pattern. This will require doing tests, especially beyond a mid-bicep length, as sleeve patterning is not simply about extending the piece

  • Can I widen the front neckline?  The neckline can be slightly lowered, but more drastic changes will affect the balance of the design.

  • Can the front pleats be removed?  Removing the pleats is not recommended unless you have strong pattern-cutting skills, as they are essential to the look. Besides, the pretty pleats are what makes this dress. If you want to remove the pleats, I suggest choosing another pattern.

  • Can I remove or move the invisible side zipper? The invisible zip cannot be removed. and moving it or changing sides would require significant alterations.

  • Can I transform the Twist dress into a top? Well… it’s not off the table! Watch out for a hack!

❓ What fabrics should I choose for the Twist dress?

Woven fabrics only ; the pattern is not suitable for knit fabrics. We recommend soft and lightweight fabrics (max. 200g/m2). Solid colours enhance the dress's cut and highlight the pleats, immersing us completely in the minimalist spirit of the 90s. As the dress's bodice is twisted during assembly, prints create a striking effect highlighting this feature.

We’ve showcased the pattern in:

  • The Clash jacquard: its drape and texture give the design a beautifully structured look, with pleats that stand out perfectly.

  • The Fever printed viscose poplin: its fluid drape brings a lovely sense of lightness to the design, while the cut of the bodice creates a beautifully twisted effect on the silhouette.

  • The plain viscose twill: soft with a slightly weighty drape, it enhances the dress’s draped effect beautifully. Available in a wide range of colours, each with a rich, intense finish.

❓ Why choose the sewing box?

The Twist sewing box is designed to make the process seamless as everything you need is included

  • fabric perfectly matched to the pattern

  • we provide you with matching haberdashery (zips, spool of thread)

  • the sewing experience is complete: the box includes the pouch pattern, the required yardage, thread, zip, a pretty label, as well as needles and fusible interfacing – everything you need, nothing left to chance!

❓ Can the Clash jacquard and Twist pattern be purchased outside the box?

Yes, both the Twist pattern and the Clash jacquard are available individually. Each product page includes all the information you need for fabric quantities and matching haberdashery.

❓ Can I choose a fabric other than the Clash jacquard in the sewing box?

No, unfortunately the box is curated with a specific fabric. However, you can always purchase your preferred fabric separately along with the pattern.

❓ How can I distinguish the right side from the wrong side on the Clash jacquard? And for the new cotton gabardine?

The Clash jacquard has no defined right or wrong side, so you can choose your favourite or even mix both for a playful effect. We have sewn it on both sides. You can even play with it and uses both sides on different pieces. For the cotton gabardine, look for the more visible diagonal twill lines, this is considered the right side.

❓ What is different about this new gabardine compared to the one already sold at Maison Fauve?

This updated 100% cotton gabardine features a more pronounced twill texture, a softer hand feel and a slightly heavier weight at 300 g/m². It’s the same base as our printed gabardine and works beautifully for structured garments like jackets, trousers, skirts or shorts.
