FAQ's – Maison Fauve's Natural High Collection

Pattern FAQ's

Can I adapt the patterns to my body shape?

All patterns include shorten/lengthen lines to help you adjust the garment to your height.

You can also refer to the looks worn by Emilie, Vanina, and Déborah in the product visuals. Emilie wears the tops, blouses, dresses, and perfectos in size 36, and the Worn jeans in size 34. Déborah wears the entire collection in size 36, while Vanina wears size 50 for blouses, tops, the perfecto, and jeans, and size 50/52 at the hips for the Linger dress.

Each size was chosen based on the measurement chart and the models’ usual ready-to-wear size.

For more specific adjustments, you can rely on our free guide to custom sewing, designed to help you tailor your garments to your shape.

Can I lengthen the Doll blouse or the Almost shirt into a dress?

You can easily lengthen these patterns into a dress by following the provided instructions, as shown for example in the Cicadella blouse hack lengthened into a dress.

Can I make a top version of the Linger dress?

This is theoretically possible, although we haven’t tested it. The pattern includes a waistline marking, which you can use as a guide to determine the length of your top. In all cases, we recommend keeping the invisible zip, as the garment is fitted at the bust.

Is it mandatory to line the Misfit biker jacket?

No, it's not mandatory. We have a guide to sewing an unlined jacket with seam allowances finished with bias tape here tutorial dedicated to another Maison Fauve pattern.

Is it mandatory to sew the zippered sleeve gussets and welt pockets on the Misfit biker jacket?

The zippered welt pockets are optional. You can sew the jacket without them, or opt for welt pockets without a zip by simply omitting the zipper during construction. As for the sleeve hem, the gusset is built into the pattern. Removing it is possible, but will require modifying the sleeve pieces for both the outer fabric and the lining.

Can I easily add sleeves to the Linger dress?

No, this isn’t possible. The armhole shape, the strap placement, and the back neckline opening are not designed to accommodate sleeves

Can I easily lengthen the sleeve of the Almost shirt?

You can slightly adjust the sleeve length, but for a long-sleeved version, some testing will be needed to achieve a balanced and harmonious fit

What is the cut of the new Worn jeans? What makes them different from other Maison Fauve jeans?

The Worn jeans feature a straight-leg cut with a lower rise than other Maison Fauve styles, inspired by the iconic 90s 501s. Compared to the other Maison Fauve jeans:

  • The Andrea jeans have a side invisible zip and a barrel-leg shape, with volume through the thigh that tapers towards the ankle.
  • The Hussard jeans are high-waisted, with a fly front, fitted at the hips, fuller through the thigh, and tapered at the ankle.

  • The Ronsard jeans are also high-waisted, fitted through the hips, with a very wide leg for a true wide-leg silhouette

All patterns include a finished garment measurement chart, with details such as the front and back rise, leg width, and hip measurement. As for other Maison Fauve trouser patterns, their cuts are very different and cannot be directly compared to that of the new Worn jeans.

Fabric FAQ's

Do the printed cotton gabardines have any stretch?

Our new printed cotton gabardine is a 100% cotton twill. It does not deform or stretch when sewn. With a weight of 300g/m2, this fabric is perfect for sewing "jean" style trousers like the new Worn pattern, but also Andrea, Ronsard, Récif, or denim-style skirts or shorts. And of course, it's the perfect fabric for a beautiful floral Misfit biker.

What lining should I choose for the Deep Roses jacquard?

This jacquard has shades of green, pink, old rose, and burgundy. The Maison Fauve cupro linings in Forest, Coral, Copper, Mocha, Toffee colours will look beautiful with this fabric.

Is it essential to line the jacquard?

Our new jacquard is quite supple; it doesn't itch or scratch and can be worn next to the skin. In this case, you will of course need to overcast the seam allowances or even use bias tape to finish the seams so that it doesn't fray.

Are the printed viscose poplins opaque?

This fabric is opaque and does not require lining. We did not add lining to the garments presented in these fabrics.

Do the prints have a direction? Should I consider pattern matching?

The Ghost Flower print, as well as the Deep Roses jacquard, do not require pattern matching, and they do not have an "up-down" direction to respect.

What thread colour should I choose for each print? Which buttons?

Each fabric product sheet includes recommendations for haberdashery supplies: thread, buttons, zips; we lay it all out for you!

We hope you enjoy discovering the new collection through our lookbook… will you fall for the bittersweet allure of Natural High? We can’t wait to hear which pieces are your favourites!
