Inspired Pairings: Patterns That Bring La Flamenca Fabrics to Life
-
Polka dot poplins : for summer tops, pretty dresses, and ruffled skirts, polka dots are the summer hit not to be missed. For quick, easy, and fabric-efficient sewing projects, we recommend pretty tops like the Belle Épine top , the Salto top , and the Marisa top . For a burst of polka dots with undeniable charm, a beautiful dress like Cuba Libre , Rosalie , or the Highland ruffled skirt will ensure you have a perfect fit.

-
Pampa jacquard : This fabric gives the Damas Spencer jacket a chic twist, echoing the style of a traditional chaquetilla. A piece with a strong character, wildly elegant. And why not have a total look, paired with the Grand Bain shorts . A beautiful Dandelion jacket , or a Métropolis jacket would also be a wise choice.
-
Rouge Tango Tencel Satin : The Luz dress 's sleek cut and twist of ruffles and side seams beautifully showcase the movement of the tencel satin. A beautiful Skyline blouse or a Highland ruffled skirt will also look great in this beautiful, soft, lightweight fabric.

Lightweight off-white tweed : The charming Calypso jacket that stole your heart this winter returns in a fresh, summery version - craffted in luminous ecru tweed, for a look that’s both bright and elegant. It's the ideal piece for summer evenings and elegant occasions like weddings. ❓ FAQ – The Maison Fauve La Flamenca Capsule
Can I buy fabrics by the metre?
Yes, all fabrics in the capsule collection are available by the metre on the Maison Fauve website. Our fabrics are sold in 10 cm increments; for example, if you want to buy 1.40 m of fabric, you'll need to add 14 units to your cart.
Is there a new pattern associated with this capsule?
No new patterns in this capsule—but that’s by design. This time, the spotlight is on our latest fabrics, beautifully brought to life through patterns you already love. It's also the perfect moment to rediscover standout styles like the Highland ruffled skirt and the Luz ruffled dress, back at centre stage.
Are the fabrics suitable for beginners?
Yes, our beautiful Polka Dot poplins are very easy to sew: they don't slip, they don't stretch, and they are easy to iron.
Tencel satin and viscose jacquard have a slightly slippery texture, which calls for a bit more care when sewing. That said, they remain beginner-friendly—especially when used for simple projects with minimal pattern pieces. Think easy-to-sew styles like the Palma top, the Violette blouse, or the Transat dress.
Pampa jacquard and tweed are easy fabrics to sew but they do fray a little, I recommend finishing your seams with an overlocker or planning to trim your seam allowances for neater finishes and more durable sewing.
Do I need to line any of the fabrics?
It Depends on Your Fabric and Project
When it comes to lining your garments, the choice often depends on both the fabric and the type of project you’re working on.
For our printed fabrics with darker backgrounds - like the Polka Dot Mocha and Encre poplin - there’s no need to add a lining. The same goes for more opaque options such as Rouge Tango Tencel Satin and Flamenco Rouge Poésie Jacquard. These fabrics provide enough coverage on their own, so you can follow your pattern instructions without any additional layers.
However, if you’re working with lighter-coloured prints, especially for dresses or skirts, a lining might be worth considering to avoid any transparency. That said, with the right undergarments, you can often skip it entirely and still achieve a beautiful, wearable result.
When sewing with Pampa jacquard or ecru tweed, adding a lining can make all the difference—especially for fitted jackets, where extra comfort and a smooth finish are key.
That said, if you're working on a straight-cut jacket or a casual blouson, lining is entirely optional. These fabrics are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, making them perfect for unlined pieces.
Need guidance? We’ve got you covered with this sewing tutorial to help you confidently create an unlined jacket with a clean, professional finish.
On some fabrics, such as tweed, Pampa jacquard or tencel satin, it is not easy to distinguish the wrong side from the right side, or both sides are equally pretty... Which side should you sew?
The answer often comes down to your personal preference. Take a moment to look closely at the texture, sheen, and weave—then choose the side that best fits your vision for the project. On some fabrics, the selvedges (edges of the width) have small holes that are due to the manufacturing process. Observe and touch these holes; on the reverse side they will be slightly marked and rather smooth, and on the right side they will be more marked, as if raised and rough. This advice will be particularly relevant for tencel satin. After all, when both sides look this good, there’s no wrong choice.
Distinctive Features of Each Fabric:
- Tweed: The beauty of tweed lies in its texture. The weave brings out the interplay of different threads, especially the raised or textured ones. We’ve chosen the more textured side as the right side, to highlight the fabric’s depth and character.
- Pampa Jacquard: With this fabric, it’s all about the effect you’re after. If you want bold contrast, go for the side with the darker background and high-impact floral design - this is the one we used in our photos. Prefer a softer, tonal look? The reverse side, with subtle shades of grey, is equally beautiful.
- Tencel Satin: This fabric offers two finishes—one with a luminous, satin sheen, and the other with a more matte, understated look. For our designs, we chose the satin side to enhance its elegant, fluid drape.
How much fabric do I need to sew my blouse/dress/shorts/jacket, etc.?
All fabric quantities and sewing supplies required are listed by size gradation on each pattern's product sheet. These lengths are given for a 140 cm width.
Can these fabrics be used for projects other than clothing?
Absolutely! Jacquard or tweed are great choices for accessories like hand-sewn bags or clutches to match your outfit. And for unique decorative pieces, why not sew jacquard cushions or a throw?
Will there be a video format available to showcase your new fabrics?
Yes! A podcast episode will be dedicated to the La Flamenca capsule collection, providing in-depth details about the fabrics and also giving you pattern ideas for sewing them. A fashion show featuring the shoot's outfits will also be posted on Maison Fauve UK's Instagram page.
