Valentine's Day: The Elegance Of Hand-Sewn Pyjamas

Loungewear is the perfect blend of comfort and sophistication. It’s a collection designed for everyday softness, where clean lines meet delicate fabrics. Warm and intimate, it effortlessly suits those calm, restful moments.

I’ve always wanted to include garments in the Maison Fauve wardrobe that you can wear at home—pieces that are wonderful to wear, day and night. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this seems like the perfect time to introduce a charming new treat: a sewing box for cosy, hand-sewn nights in!

I adore pyjamas, so I’m not sure why it took me so long to design a set for Maison Fauve. We already offered the Blush camisole/nightie or slip dress (originally intended to layer as a slip under unlined garments) and the Songe shorts, which go perfectly with Blush for a bedtime ensemble. But I really wanted “true” pyjamas: a lovely blouse, well-fitted bottoms, something that with effortless style that’s also timelessly comfortable.

Valentine's Day Sewing Boxes

We’re introducing two sewing boxes featuring our gorgeous Lily viscose jacquards. This fabric is both beautiful and comfortable: viscose is breathable, and the jacquard weave brings just enough sophistication to make your pyjamas absolutely irresistible!

Soupir, Blush, Songe—these patterns are timeless, and each piece can stand on its own or pair with the others: a camisole and trouser duo, a pretty blouse with shorts… You’ll easily find the Maison Fauve pyjama combination that’s right for you.

A Brand-New Pattern - Soupir

The new Soupir pyjamas include a lovely blouse with a scooped V-neck and dainty ties to fasten it, plus a small slit at the hem for comfort and a refined finish. The bottoms have an elastic waistband at the back for ease and a flat front waistband that creates a flattering silhouette.

Soupir is very accessible for most sewists, and as always, we’ve prepared a detailed step-by-step video to guide you through each stage of construction.

FAQ: Your Questions about "The Basics"

To showcase our new releases, we organised a photoshoot at the magnificent Horizon Resort hotel—because what could be better than wearing a gorgeous ensemble that looks just as good when you’re relaxing in your room as it does when you’re strolling through the corridors?

This shoot reflects my vision for the Fauve Woman’s loungewear wardrobe: I had fun playing with different patterns and fabrics, offering you a variety of pattern/fabric combinations. To answer all your questions and make sure you have all the details at your fingertips, I’ve put together a special FAQ dedicated to our Valentine’s Day capsule.

Once you’ve read it, you’ll know everything there is to know about Soupir, Songe, Blush, and our sewing boxes!

  1. Can we buy the patterns/fabrics separately from the sewing box? Yes! The pyjama sewing boxes let you sew Soupir or the Blush + Songe duo using the Lily viscose jacquards. Each pattern is available in Encre (Navy), Rouge Passion (Red), Acajou (Mahogany), and Cumin (Ochre). You can also purchase these fabrics independently of the box.
  2. I am a beginner, are the Soupir pyjamas difficult to sew? Not at all. Soupir is very beginner-friendly: the blouse has no button placket, collar, or cuffs, and the trousers have an elasticated waistband in the back (with a flat front) plus Italian pockets. This makes it an ideal project for anyone new to sewing trousers. The techniques you’ll learn include attaching sleeves, sewing a facing to a neckline, installing a waistband and elastic, and sewing Italian pockets. We detail all of these steps in the booklet and in a thorough video tutorial on our website and YouTube channel.
  3. Can I wear the Soupir set during the day? Absolutely! Depending on your fabric choice, the Soupir blouse can be worn out and about—it has a sweet V-neckline with ties that easily hide a bra. It's adorable! The trousers have a straight cut, which makes them perfect for summer in a lightweight fabric like linen-viscose or a soft, light denim (such as our Macadam fabric).
  4. Why are the Blush camisole and Songe shorts offered together in one pattern?
Many customers appreciate having all the necessary supplies in one box. With Valentine’s Day coming up, a shorts pyjama sewing box makes a lovely gift—or a treat for yourself—and the pattern in a pouch is part of the Maison Fauve experience. Plus, despite it containing two separate patterns (the Blush camisole/nightie and the Songe shorts), it’s priced the same as our usual patterns!
  5. Is the Blush slip dress version also included in the pouch? Yes, absolutely, the Blush and Songe duo pattern contains the Blush pattern in camisole format AND nightie format, as well as the Songe shorts
  6. What fabrics are offered in the Soupir and Blush/Songe duo pyjama sewing boxes? Each box features our Lily viscose jacquard in a selection of colours - Encre (Navy), Rouge Passion (Red), Acajou (Mahogany), and Cumin (Ochre). This 100% viscose jacquard is drapey, soft, and comfortable for day or night. It has delicate, feminine floral motifs, and we include matching thread in the box.
  7. What if I want to mix and match the Lily viscose jacquard with one of the lace pieces as shown in the visuals? Of course - but unfortunately it’s not an option included in the sewing box. The Lily viscose jacquard and various laces are sold separately on our site, under the “Fabrics” tab. You’ll find the exact fabric size requirements on each pattern product page.
  8. Can we mix the patterns to make a more tailored version of the box? For example have a box with the Blush camisole and Soupir trousers, or one with the Songe shorts and Soupir blouse?
The boxes themselves are set, so you can’t switch the patterns within them. However, the individual patterns are available separately, and we list the fabric size needed for each piece on the pattern product pages. This way, you can mix and match as you like and create multiple pyjama sets that suit and fit your style!
  9. What size should I choose to sew the Soupir pyjamas? If you fall between two sizes, I recommend sizing up. These are pyjamas, so you want a comfortable fit! The cut is straight but not overly loose. We also provide a table of finished garment measurements on the Soupir product page to help you pick the right size.
  10. I would like to sew the Botanica lace version of the Soupir blouse, how much fabric is needed? Do I need to line it? I didn’t line any of the lace garments because slight transparency isn’t really an issue for a pyjama top. In fact, it can be part of the garment’s charm! Instead of lining, you could layer a Blush camisole underneath. We offer a range of cotton voile in colours matching our lace. Fabric requirements for the blouse vary by size and are listed on the Soupir pattern page.
  11. Any tips for sewing the Songe shorts in Botanica lace? Lining them is tricky, and again, the transparency adds to the delicate charm of a night-time piece. I didn’t line the shorts you see in the photos; I simply wore undergarments in a colour close to the lace. I also chose the version without pockets (included in the pattern) to avoid a visible pocket line.
  12. What fabrics can be used to sew the Soupir pyjamas? The Soupir pattern was designed for woven (non stretch) fabrics.
I recommend soft, flowing fabrics, ranging from 90 and 200 g/m2. The beautiful Lily viscose jacquard is of course perfect for this project, but a viscose poplin, a cotton voile, a viscose twill, a pretty satin fabric, silk would also be gorgeous! And why not mix a blouse sewn in a printed fabric and the bottoms in plain, or vice versa?! Lace is also a very pretty option, for pyjamas that are as precious as they are comfortable.

In Conclusion

With this Valentine’s Day capsule, Maison Fauve celebrates the beauty and joy of handcrafted sewing. Whether you’re new to sewing or a seasoned seamstress, these boxes invite you to indulge in a creative, relaxing project—ensuring your nights are as lovely as your days.
