Violette: the big return of an iconic pattern!
Ten years ago, I created my very first sewing pattern. I was a young and passionate seamstress, eager to design my own wardrobe and completely enchanted by the freedom sewing gave me—to bring my ideas to life and craft pieces that truly reflected my style. A series of unexpected opportunities, like a perfect alignment of the stars, encouraged me to take a leap of faith. That first design quickly evolved into a small collection, leading me to launch my own brand and introduce my very first three sewing patterns.
That was a decade ago. What began as a spontaneous passion project gradually transformed into a lifelong adventure—one that has exceeded every dream I had when I first started. And at the heart of it all was my very first pattern: the Violette blouse.
I didn't have the experience I have today, as a seamstress or as a designer. However, Violette immediately won over the couture community. Identifiable at first glance, it is at the origin of what I will perpetually seek in my creations, season after season, collection after collection: a look, a signature . This pattern remained for years one of the flagship models of the Maison Fauve wardrobe.
Violette: The Very First Maison Fauve Design
My passion for fashion led me into a world that was completely new to me. Through sewing, I discovered the ability to create garments that were beautiful, timeless, and accessible in terms of sewing level, with clean lines and unique details that made all the difference. Violette was the first pattern to embody this vision.
At the time, I didn’t have the experience I have today—neither as a seamstress nor as a designer. Yet, Violette immediately won over the sewing community. Instantly recognisable, it became the foundation of what I strive for in every collection, season after season: a distinct look, a signature style. For years, this pattern remained one of Maison Fauve’s most iconic designs, a true staple in the brand’s wardrobe.
Over the years, I have grown and refined my craft, and my approach to designing and developing patterns has evolved alongside me. For several years now, the creation of Maison Fauve patterns has followed a much more structured and meticulous process.
Six years ago, I expanded the size range for new patterns and revisited some of the earlier designs to align with this evolution. This shift led me to redefine the brand's standards, introducing a more rigorous approach to fit testing and sizing validation. It was during this period that I began working with a pattern maker, whose expertise and technical skill helped us reach the level of quality I had always aspired to.
Although I have a deep affection for Violette, I came to realise that it no longer truly represented the evolution of Maison Fauve. With that in mind, I made the decision to remove the pattern from our catalogue.
An Iconic Design, Reimagined!
This year marks Maison Fauve’s 10th anniversary, and I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to celebrate this milestone with you.
For this new chapter, I wanted to return to my very first creation, the design that started it all. Violette is back… or rather, Violette is reborn. I’ve preserved everything that defined the essence of the original model, but I reworked it from the ground up, developing it with the same care and precision that now define Maison Fauve’s design process.
Stay tuned, the new Violette is ready to shine once again

What’s New in Violette?
Here are the key improvements we’ve made:
- Refined Balance & Fit – The entire structure of the pattern has been reworked from the ground up, following our precise criteria for construction, shoulder alignment, and graded sizing.
- Extensive Testing – Though Violette may appear to be a "simple" design, its impact lies in the precision of its proportions. The neckline facing has been redesigned, the finishing techniques refined, and adjustments to the back yoke and sleeve design ensure both comfort and effortless wear.
- A New PDF Format – This updated version has been designed to enhance the sewing experience, making the assembly process smoother and more intuitive.
This final update marks a turning point for Maison Fauve…
