À L’Ombre Des Roses – Spring-Summer 2025 Collection
After a winter spent by the sea, with its salty breeze and crashing waves, I invite you to step into a garden filled with intoxicating scents. Le Sillage was inspired by the raw beauty of windswept coastlines, while our new collection, À L'Ombre Des Roses, offers a softer, more delicate escape - a gateway to a world that reveals itself gently.
The style takes on a bohemian feel, yet with a touch of character to enhance your handmade wardrobe. I wanted to blend romantic pieces, like a light lace top or a flowing blouse, with more structured designs, such as a spencer-style jacket or wide-leg jeans with distinctive details.
Expect delicate creations, floral prints, and bold cuts, coming together for the perfect summer wardrobe. Let me introduce you to our new collection, and explore our FAQ to uncover all its details before the official launch on Thursday, March 13 at 9 am!
The new patterns in the collection
Each design stands out with the signature details that define the Maison Fauve wardrobe: an elegant neckline, intricate pleats, precise dart placement, refined pocket finishes, and carefully crafted back details.
The Damas Spencer
The Damas spencer blends structured elegance with a modern edge. Its collarless, double-breasted design creates a bold, graphic silhouette, while well-defined shoulders, highlighted by a pleat, add sophistication. With its short, sharp cut and precise construction, it offers both comfort and impeccable finishing. Versatile and stylish, it adapts beautifully to different fabrics, making it a standout piece in any wardrobe. See the pattern
The Ronsard jeans
The Ronsard jeans bring a fresh addition to the Maison Fauve trouser collection, combining style and comfort effortlessly. Designed with a wide-leg cut that drapes beautifully, the fit is structured at the hips to elongate the silhouette. The high waist provides both support and ease, ensuring comfort whether you're sitting or standing. True to classic denim styling, Ronsard features signature details such as precise topstitching, a ticket pocket, a beautifully shaped back rise, and thoughtfully sized back pockets that enhance the curves for a flattering finish. The Belle Épine Top
The Belle Épine top is a celebration of bohemian femininity, making it the perfect summer essential. Quick and easy to sew, it features delicate shoulder ties, a flattering V-neckline at the front and back that’s bra-friendly, and elegant bust darts that add a unique touch to the design.
This timeless piece offers versatility with the option to sew it with or without a ruffle for different styles. The construction is simple yet refined, consisting of two layers: the outer top, adorned with darts that radiate from the centre front, and the inner layer, acting as a lining with classic darts. Thoughtfully finished, the sides are assembled with French seams for a polished look inside and out. See the pattern
The Rosalie dress
The Rosalie dress is a true gem of femininity, featuring a stunning V-neckline, subtly offset shoulders, a flattering fitted silhouette, a leg-revealing slit, and a beautifully gathered bodice. For a versatile twist, Rosalie also comes in a blouse version—an elegant and ultra-feminine top. The pattern offers the choice of two sleeve finishes, allowing you to create a buttoned cuff or a delicate tied version. See the pattern
The Hespéride blouse
The Hespéride blouse blends the ease of a flowing top with a meticulously designed silhouette. The front bodice offers graceful fullness without excess volume, ensuring a flattering drape without gathers. The back is full of charm, featuring a delicate V-shaped opening and elegant cascading gathers.
Raglan sleeves with soft pleats at the sleeve head create a beautifully structured shoulder line. The pattern also offers versatility, allowing you to sew the blouse with or without a button placket—perfect for adapting both the style and the sewing difficulty to your preference. See the pattern

FAQ – In the Shadow of Roses, Spring-Summer 2025 Collection
About the bosses
Can I sew a top version of Rosalie and remove the zipper?
The Rosalie blouse is already included in the pattern design. However, its fit remains just as structured as the dress, as the blouse is intended to be worn as a bodice. In both versions, the zipper remains essential for a perfect fit.
Can I use the existing pattern to sew a skirt version of Rosalie?
To adapt the pattern, you will need to shape it at the waist and finish it with either an inner hem or a belt. A side zipper is essential, as the design doesn’t allow enough room to simply add an elasticated waistband.
Can I sew the Rosalie dress without a slit?
Yes, it’s very simple! Just follow the step-by-step instructions for the right side of the dress. This adjustment won’t compromise the comfort of the design.
Can I make the Rosalie dress shorter (above the knee)?
Yes, you just need to cut the bottom of the pieces directly to the desired length.
Can I adjust the height of the slit on the Rosalie dress?
Yes, you just need to transfer the cut-out outline specific to the left part of the dress to the desired height on the middle front and left front side pieces.
Can I fit a collar to the Damascus spencer?
The pattern is not intended for this purpose. However, if you have a solid foundation in pattern making or the desire to challenge yourself, sewing knows no limits ;)
Can I sew the Damascus jacket without lining?
It is still possible to sew a jacket without a lining, but you will need to adapt the finishing touches because the assembly seams will not be protected or hidden by a lining. A tutorial dedicated to sewing an unlined jacket/coat is available on our website in the "Tutorials" section.
Can I sew the Damascus jacket without an epaulette or sleeve cap cigarette?
The distinctive feature of Damas is its structured shoulder line, highlighted by a fold that shapes the shoulder point. The addition of shoulder pads and sleeve head rolls ensures a polished finish and a well-defined shoulder. If you choose to omit them, the drape of the garment will differ from our visuals, and the fold will appear less pronounced.
Can the Hespéride blouse be lengthened into a dress?
You can lengthen the design by extending the bottom of the front and back pieces, but be sure to check that the adjusted width still fits within your fabric, as the lower part of the front and back bodice flares out significantly.
Can the Belle Épine top be lengthened into a dress?
For the version without a ruffle, it is possible to lengthen the design directly from the bottom of the front and back pieces, giving a little ease at the hips. This is a transformation that we have already described for lengthening the Cicadella blouse or the Spritz tank top duo.
If you want to extend the ruffle, check that your extended piece fits within your width as the ruffles are "shaped".
Can the leg width of Ronsard jeans be reduced?
The pattern's volume and shape were designed for this characteristic wide-leg cut. Tightening the leg is possible, but a toile will be required to ensure the side seam and overall drape are consistent.
Can you sew Ronsard shorts with the pattern?
To successfully adapt a trouser pattern into shorts, especially for a design with a defined hip shape, you’ll need to adjust the crotch and side seams. While it’s certainly doable, achieving a flawless fit requires careful modifications—sewing a toile first is highly recommended.
Can I adapt the patterns to my height?
Patterns that require specific height adjustments all include shortening/lengthening lines. This is the case for the Ronsard trousers, the Damas spencer, and the Rosalie dress.
For the Hespéride blouse, the length adjustment is made directly from the bottom of the pieces.
For the Belle Épine top you can choose to lengthen along the line that determines the position of the ruffle or from the bottom of the ruffle. If your bust is long, comparing it to the measurements of the finished garment, lengthen by distributing the measurement a little over the bust part and a little over the ruffle to keep the same look in proportion.
How do I choose my size?
The garments shown are worn by Vanina in size 50 for tops and 52 for dresses and trousers (height: 1m72), by Isabelle in size 40 for tops and dresses (38 for trousers) (height: 1m70), and by Émilie in size 36 for tops and dresses (34 for trousers) (height: 1m63).
A finished garment measurement chart is available on the product page and in the pattern brochure for all models.
Each pattern is designed with a unique cut, so the key measurement to focus on will vary. For example, waist and hip measurements are less relevant for the Hespéride blouse, but they are crucial for the Rosalie dress or Ronsard trousers.
If you find yourself between sizes, sewing a toile is always recommended to ensure the best fit.
I’ll provide details on the specific fit of each design, along with size comparisons to other Maison Fauve patterns to help guide your choice.
Each Maison Fauve pattern is designed with a specific cut, and the key measurements to focus on will vary depending on the style. Here’s a guide to help you choose the right size and understand how each piece fits.
The Hespéride blouse has a loose, flowing silhouette, which is the intended style of the pattern. In the visuals, it is worn in each model’s usual size. Its fit is similar to the Tilda blouse, Mia top, and Marisa top. I do not recommend sizing down for a more fitted look, as the shoulder and chest cut-out details are designed for the grading of the recommended size.
The Ronsard jeans are high-waisted, sitting slightly above the navel. The waistband is designed with extra ease for a comfortable fit, especially compared to lower-waisted trousers. The hips are well-fitted, while the legs have a wide flare. For a look similar to the photos, I recommend choosing your usual size. The fit is comparable to the Hussard and Récif trousers, though Ronsard’s waistband is slightly higher.
The Belle Épine top is fitted at the bust and flares out towards the hem (even more so in the ruffled version). It has a similar fit to the Blush camisole, Daïquiri top, and Cicadella top.
For this pattern, the most important measurement is the bust size. If you typically make a Full Bust Adjustment (FBA), note that bust shaping is achieved through darts, though their placement is unconventional. For guidance, refer to the Zenith blouse section in our free custom sewing guide, available in the "Tutorial" section on our website.
The Damas spencer has a short, fitted cut, designed to fall just at the small of the hips, ensuring the waistband of your trousers remains covered. Its length is similar to that of the Métropolis jacket.
If you have already sewn the Métropolis or Manhattan jackets, I recommend choosing the same size.
The Rosalie dress offers a shaped yet relaxed fit—the waist and hips are defined but not constricting. The bodice provides comfortable fullness around the bust.
If you usually make FBA adjustments, I suggest sewing a toile first without modifications to check how the dress naturally fits your shape.
The chest size, waist size and hip size will be important values for these 2 patterns, and if your measurements do not place you in a specific size, you will have to adapt the pattern to your body shape (chest adjustment, grading between several sizes, etc.).
The "shorten and lengthen" lines suggested on the patterns are strategic places where you can make the "connections" between sizes.
We provide you with a free guide to custom sewing that can be downloaded from our website in the “Tutorial” section . It offers you support in adjusting patterns according to your needs and body shape.
Can I sew the Damas jacket/Belle Épine top/Hespéride blouse/Rosalie dress in jersey, fleece, scuba, etc.?
These patterns were made for warp and weft fabrics, they are not designed for knit fabrics (due to their cut, ease and the presence of darts).
What fabric is recommended for sewing my pattern?
The product sheet for each pattern, along with the brochure, provides details on the recommended fabrics and their ideal weights for sewing your garment.
Will the patterns be available in PDF format soon?
Our new products are exclusively available in pocket patterns. To understand how we work, please watch this video dedicated to how we work with PDF format.

This diversity allows everyone to explore new techniques and progress in sewing thanks to our video tutorials which will be available as soon as the collection goes online.
About fabrics
I want to sew my garment in Alhambra lace, is a lining necessary?
The openwork of our Alhambra lace is quite pronounced, it is recommended to line it with cotton voile in the matching colour.
-
For the Belle Épine top, the pattern provides a lining.
-
For the Hespéride blouse, only the top of the front and back are lined. You can either slip a Blush camisole underneath, or cut the bottom front and back in double cotton voile and assemble them edge to edge like the pieces cut from the main fabric, following the assembly instructions.
-
For the Rosalie dress, due to its panel construction and the front slit, I recommend slipping a Blush slip underneath.
On some fabrics, such as tweed, is it necessary to apply fusible interfacing on the pieces of Mystic Rose jacquard?
Fusible interfacing helps provide structure and clean finishes, ensuring a well-defined collar, sharp cuffs, precise neckline, and crisp hems. The weight of the fabric doesn’t eliminate the need for interfacing; instead, you should adapt the type of interfacing to your fabric. The recommended option is listed directly on the product sheets.
How Do I Determine the Right Side of the Fabric on Materials Like Tweed, Mystic Rose Jacquard, or Tailored Wool?
With some fabrics, such as tweed, Mystic Rose jacquard, or tailored wool, the right and wrong sides can be difficult to distinguish. The best approach is to observe and feel your fabric. While the choice is ultimately up to you, here are a few characteristics to help you decide:
Take a close look and feel the texture of your fabric. The choice of the right and wrong side is ultimately up to you, but here are some key characteristics to help guide your decision:
-
Tweed: The weave showcases different threads with varying levels of texture, especially those in relief. We have chosen the most textured side as the right side.
-
Mystic Rose Jacquard: The tone-on-tone quilting creates raised patterns that are more pronounced on one side. In our visuals, we have highlighted the side with the most visible relief as the right side.
-
Tailored Wool: One side has a slightly shinier finish, while the other appears more matte. We have opted for the shinier side as the right side in our samples.
The stripes of the Parade cotton jacquard fabric are not in the same direction across the width and on the sewn garments, how do I know how much to order?
To create vertical stripes, you'll need to flip your fabric over. For the Damascus jacket and Ronsard jeans patterns, we'll provide the cutting plans and lengths you need on the product sheet.
The useful width height is 1m 55, which means that for all your projects requiring up to 1m 55 of fabric you can order the indicated footage . For your other creations, I recommend that you arrange your pattern pieces at a height of 1m 55 and check the width that your pieces will occupy.
I'm crazy about Abstract Rose viscose poplin, what can I sew with this fabric, and should I line it?
Our viscose poplin is soft, supple, and drapes beautifully. You can sew blouses, tops, and flowing dresses from this fabric. Although lightweight, the fabric is opaque and absolutely does not require lining.
Does the Abstract Rose viscose poplin pattern have a direction?
The Abstract Rose pattern has a direction; the pretty flowers have their heads facing upwards. This will need to be taken into account when ordering fabric lengths. Fabric usage for the new collection patterns is provided for placement with all pattern pieces facing the same direction, so you can order the usage indicated on the pattern's product sheet.
