The NOTTE dress

NOTTE is our modern take on the classic ball gown - feminine, contemporary, and effortlessly comfortable, making it an ideal choice for festive celebrations. Its sweetheart neckline highlights the décolleté, while the defined waist and pleated, structured bodice create a beautifully balanced, graceful silhouette.
With two back variations (full or buttoned) and two skirt lengths, NOTTE adapts easily to different styles. Choose a refined fabric and heels for a glamorous evening look, or opt for a softer drape in solid tones paired with ankle boots for an elegant everyday version.

The cropped sleeves and fluid skirt - complete with an elasticated back and discreet pockets - offer ease, comfort, and total freedom of movement. The pattern is ideal for intermediate to advanced sewists, and a full video tutorial will be available at launch to guide you step by step through the entire construction.

The New Fabrics
Jacquard fabrics are truly part of Maison Fauve’s signature style. They bring a couture touch to even the simplest silhouettes, transforming every handmade piece into something exceptional.
This festive capsule offers a wealth of creative possibilities. From subtle plays of shine and movement to the most fluid and richly textured weaves, explore our new fabrics and imagine your next beautiful sewing projects.
Ocello medium-weight jacquard
Inspired by leopard motifs yet leaning into abstraction, the Ocello jacquard showcases a beautifully textured design accented with shimmering lurex, with each side offering a distinctly different look. This reversible, versatile fabric is ideal for short jackets, tailored blazers, or even trousers or shorts for a bold, head-to-toe statement. It also works wonderfully for a trapeze dress - and why not mix and match both sides of the fabric for an even more striking, couture finish?

Pantera Cotton - Lightweight lurex jacquard
The Pantera jacquard showcases Maison Fauve’s iconic leopard motif in a sophisticated black and light gold palette. Soft, lightweight, and easy to work with, it’s stunning on blouses and shirts for a subtle feline touch, and equally striking when transformed into a dramatic, head-to-toe dress.

Pietra Viscose Poplin
Already available in Cinnamon, Cherry Red, Plum, and Lavender, the Pietra poplin now arrives in a Black Marble version, featuring the motif in refined grey tones. Striking and sophisticated, this new colourway beautifully enhances the mineral inspiration behind the design.

Lucente Jacquard
Lucente is a 100% viscose jacquard featuring a delicate dotted weave that catches the light beautifully on the satin face of the fabric. Soft, lightweight, and fluid, it offers a subtle play of shine depending on whether you choose the matte or satin side for your project. It comes in this season’s Maison Fauve colour palette - Tango Red, Plum, Chestnut Brown, and Moss Green - alongside a timeless, richly deep Black.

Christmas Capsule FAQ's
Notte Pattern and the New Sewing Box
Will the new NOTTE pattern be available as a PDF?
All our new patterns are released first as printed editions, complete with a detailed instruction booklet and an accompanying video tutorial. A PDF version will be made available online at a later date. This video explains how we approach and produce our PDF patterns.
Can I choose between the different pattern variations (back/length) in the sewing box? The sewing box includes all the supplies needed to make the long, button-back version of the dress. The kit cannot be customised, but you are free to sew the full-back variation or shorten the length if you prefer.
Can I sew Notte in a fabric other than the one included in the box?
Yes - provided the fabric weight and recommendations are respected. Our dupion and viscose poplins are excellent alternatives, and generally range from 110 to 160 g/m².
Very fluid or very lightweight fabrics that stretch easily on the bias are not recommended: they make pleats difficult to mark and may distort the neckline during construction.
Can the back of the Notte dress be modified?
The pattern offers two built-in options: a full back or a buttoned back. Further modifications are possible, but keep in mind the specific construction of the neckline, which is sewn into a casing that also creates the should
Can the Notte dress be sewn without sleeves?
The sleeve is integrated into a unique shoulder pleat and casing system that forms part of the internal finishing. Removing the sleeve would require drafting a new armhole and re-engineering this construction - alterations not included in the pattern and for which no tutorial is currently available. If you’re skilled in pattern adjustments, it may be possible, but it will require careful work ;)
Can I turn the Notte dress into a blouse?
The bodice construction is designed to connect directly to the skirt at the waist, with the pleats anchored in place. We have not tested lengthening the bodice pieces to create a blouse version and cannot guarantee how the pleats would behave. For this reason, we cannot guarantee the result as a blouse.
Can the neckline of the Notte dress be altered? The sweetheart neckline is central to the design, but you can customise it to create a simpler shape - such as a low scoop, a dancer neckline, or a boat neck.
When doing so, do not adjust the shoulder length. Instead, measure from the shoulder point at the neckline. If desired, you can cut the front on the fold by removing the centre-front seam allowance (and doing the same on the facing). Always keep the original construction in mind: the facing, sewn as a casing, also forms the shoulder pleat.
We strongly recommend sewing a muslin to confirm your adjustments.
Can the front of the Notte dress be cut at the fold to avoid the centre front seam? The sweetheart neckline has a very pronounced point, which gives it its lovely, distinctive shape. This effect cannot be achieved by sewing the piece on the fold. Follow the pattern instructions for the specific steps involved in assembling the bodice.
Can the front be cut on the fold to remove the centre-front seam?
No - the pronounced point of the sweetheart neckline cannot be achieved when cut on the fold. To preserve the shape, follow the original instructions and sew the centre-front seam as drafted.
Can I adjust the length of the Notte dress?
Yes. The pattern includes two lengths - mid-calf and above the knee - and also features lengthen/shorten lines if you want to adapt it further.
The dress is shown in the Look book and product photos worn by Émilie (36 / 1.63 m) in both long and short versions, Julie (40 / 1.70 m) in the long version, Vanina (50 in the bust, 52 in the skirt / 1.70 m) also in the long version without length modifications
The bodice and sleeve pieces also include dedicated adjustment lines for height alterations.
For support with this type of modification, refer to our Little Guide to Made-to-Measure Sewing
Regarding fabrics
Are the new Ocello, Lucente, and Pantera jacquards easy to sew? Which patterns do you recommend for these fabrics?
Each of these three jacquards has its own personality and sewing considerations.
Lucente – viscose satin jacquard is soft, supple, and very fluid, and therefore requires some sewing experience. It is lighter than our Poésie viscose jacquard. If you are not an advanced sewist, we recommend choosing patterns with simple construction and fewer pieces. Its beautiful drape makes it ideal for garments such as the Mia dress or blouse, the Tempête draped-neck blouse, or a delicate camisole like the Spritz tank. It also works well with patterns suited to less experienced sewists, including the Belle Épine top, Violette blouse, Marisa top, and Palma top. Lucente is fully opaque and does not require lining.
Pantera lightweight cotton-lurex jacquard is soft and lightweight, with less fluidity than a viscose jacquard but a lovely drape that adds structure without stiffness. It’s well-suited for dresses such as Notte, Cuba Libre, Pétula, or Haut Vol, and for blouses and tops like the Hespéride, Scala, Santa Fe, Belle Épine, Volata, and Pétula. While too light for jackets and too delicate for tailored trousers, it works beautifully for skirts such as the Silvana or Highland, and for fluid trousers like the Soupir.
Though airy, the fabric is completely opaque and does not require lining
The medium-weight Ocello jacquard has more body and structure, thicker than our previous Fauve Party jacquard, with a textured weave that adds depth to the fabric. It is perfect for sewing short jackets such as the Pilar, Damas, Calypso, or Metropolis, and will bring elegance and structure to tailored jackets like the Mimosa and Manhattan.
It also works beautifully for an A-line skirt like Grenadine, a structured dress like Pétula or the long Cicadella, as well as Grand Bain shorts or Récif trousers. However, it will be too thick for wide-legged pleated trousers such as the Brooklyn.
What are the right and wrong sides of the jacquard fabrics? All three of our new jacquards are just as beautiful on the reverse as on the right side, and can be sewn either way. You’re free to choose the finish you prefer: more or less satin for Lucente, more or less lurex for Pantera, and a light or dark background for Ocello.
This also applies to the Pampa jacquard.
Do the new fabrics have a directional pattern?
Yes, all three jacquards are directional. You can place your pattern pieces upside down if you choose - there is no risk of mismatched motifs, as the woven designs are scattered rather than placed in repeat rows.
Which lining should I choose for the Ocello jacquard?
Ocello pairs beautifully with linings in soft, coordinated shades such as beige, ochre, black, brown, or sand. For example, our cupro linings in Mocha, Champagne, Bronze, Black, or Olive are excellent options.
Which buttons/haberdashery items work best with the new jacquards? Lucente jacquards have matching threads and buttons available, along with zips in coordinated colours supplied by our manufacturer.
Pantera looks stunning with black thread and black and/or light gold buttons—such as Wink Glossy (as featured in the Notte box), Bijoux, black mother-of-pearl 2-hole buttons, or Sequin buttons.
For Ocello, we recommend the Beige Rosé thread. Our selection of light gold metal buttons - Bijou, Talisman, Égide, and Poppy Noir - are available in various diameters to suit different projects. The Poppy Noir ankle boot buttons are also a lovely match.
Do I need to have and overlocker?
An overlocker is helpful for quick, durable finishes- especially on jacquards, which tend to fray more easily when washed. However, it’s not essential. You can finish seams with bias binding, or adjust seam allowances (on patterns designed for lighter fabrics) to sew French seams instead.
Note: Unless otherwise specified, our patterns include 1 cm seam allowances.
