Le Rivage: the Journey of the New Collection

Dive into the world of Le Rivage with the new Autumn/Winter 2024/2025 collection of sewing patterns and fabrics!

Wind-tousled hair, the taste of salt on your lips, and the urge to pull up your collar—these are the feelings that inspired me to introduce you to our latest collection, Le Rivage.

Inspirations

I envisioned a very specific atmosphere, loosely inspired by films like "The Piano" and "Portrait of a Lady on Fire". Not necessarily for the clothing itself, since both films are period pieces, but for the light, the color, and the wild seashore settings. In these films, the actresses are naturally beautiful, with an unvarnished rawness that brings their characters to life.

Charlène, my photographer, and I found two stunning locations: the black sand beaches and cliffs of *Plage des Conques* in Agde, and a fishing boat in Sète, both perfect backdrops for the essence of this collection.

5 "Le Rivage" New Sewing Patterns

For this winter’s collection, I wanted to revisit a sailor’s wardrobe, blending the ruggedness and poetry of seafaring life. I didn’t take a literal approach, but instead infused the spirit of the sea into the details: a short, enveloping coat that recalls a peacoat with reimagined proportions, a blouse inspired by a sailor’s smock, and a draped, ultra-feminine blouse paired with wide-leg, ankle-length sailor trousers. There’s even a lavallière-collar dress perfect for evenings on deck. Let me introduce each pattern:

  • The Déferlante Blouse

As delicate as the most intricate shirt, thanks to its small pleats, and as essential as a striped Breton top with its shoulder panels, this beautiful straight-cut blouse is sure to become a wardrobe staple. The Déferlante blouse can be made in multiple ways: with or without front or back buttons, with pleats or without, or with just one embellished side. You’ll love reinventing this versatile pattern.

The attention to detail goes even further: the cuff features an opening at the front of the hand, adding another touch of elegance to Déferlante.

  • The Récif Trousers

The Récif trousers take the classic sailor’s pants and adapt them for everyday wear: a mid-rise waist with a flattering waistband, well-fitted hips, and an invisible side zip. The wide legs stop at the ankle with a wide cuff, while the Italian pockets are carefully finished with a pocket band. Double waist darts in the back shape your figure, and large patch pockets complete the look. Comfortable and chic without being too dressy, they look great with flats, sandals, or ankle boots.

    • The Cliff Coat

Despite the sea spray and strong winds, the Cliff coat will keep you warm. Designed as a modern take on the peacoat, it features a shawl collar, double-breasted closure, a large front storm flap reminiscent of sailor jackets, welt pockets, sleeve button tabs, and an overall enveloping cut enhanced by pleats and a wide lower back belt.Fully lined and elegant, you can play with the various panels to accentuate or soften them with piping, add or omit storm flaps, and adjust the sleeve hems for a perfect fit.he.

      • The Péninsule Dress

The Péninsule dress is the most elegant piece in the Le Rivage collection: its below-the-knee length is feminine, its lavallière collar frames the neck beautifully, and its slightly fitted shape is crafted with darts to elongate the figure. Hidden pockets add practicality. For those who prefer a more open neckline, Péninsule can also be made without a collar, with a delicate front slit tied with ribbons.

        • The Tempête Blouse

A blend of simplicity and sophistication, the Tempête blouse features a beautifully draped neckline. The design plays with pleats, proportions, and a trompe-l’oeil collar effect. The sleeves can be long, with pleats and buttoned cuffs like a traditional shirt, or sleeveless with neat armhole finishes, creating an elegant top perfect for any occasion.

          The "Le Rivage" Fabrics

Like a red dawn over a cliff-lined shore, the color palette navigates between navy, slate blue, taupe, cumin, and a bold red that ignites the entire collection. These shades come in a range of fabrics:

          • Panache Print

New for the Le Rivage collection, the vibrant Panache print features shades that transition from the outlines to the backgrounds. Available in viscose poplin, this lightweight (115 g/m²) fabric is perfect for blouses, dresses, skirts, and shirts. Soft, supple, and a dream to sew, it’s ideal for any season.

            • The Lily Jacquard Viscose

With woven floral bouquet motifs in satin tones on a matte background, Lily has a stunning drape. Ideal for sewing blouses, dresses, and shirts, its texture is perfect for pleats, adding depth to the Déferlante blouse.

              • Viscose Twill

Now available in passion red, navy, and cumin, this soft, beautifully draped fabric is perfect for sewing the Péninsule dress, blouses, and flowing trousers (200 g/m²).

                • Botanica and Coquillage Lace

Our new colors highlight the delicate rosace embroideries of this lace. Perfect for blouses and dresses, the transparency of our lace is subtle, suggesting rather than revealing. They pair beautifully with the Déferlante and Tempête blouses. For lining, we offer cotton voile in matching cumin tones.

                  • Gabardine by Maison Fauve

Soft and mid-weight (250 g/m²), the cumin gabardine is perfect for sewing jackets, coats, and trousers. Try it with the Récif trousers or a warm jacket for winter.

                    • Wool and cashmere coatings

We also have a selection of Italian deadstock wool and cashmere coatings in navy, anthracite, and black. Perfect for sewing the Cliff coat, these are warm and easy to work with. They’re also great for other coat patterns like Ray, Tsar, or Tigris, or even for a cozy Dandelion bomber jacket.

Our website also features a wide selection of matching sewing threads, buttons, and zippers for all your creations with our fabrics.
