Sewing pattern tutorial: the Mimosa blazer

The Mimosa jacket draws on the DNA of the men's wardrobe to highlight femininity: beautiful defined shoulders, a falsely straight and slightly oversize cut, a welted false pocket at the top of the bust, double-breasted jacket style. But the line is softened thanks to its beautiful, precisely proportioned shawl collar, which responds to the large rounded patch pockets, and a construction with a small side to give the illusion of a straight cut without exaggerating the ease of the bust. Mimosa is a real gem that revisits the codes of the iconic suit jacket!

You can sew your Mimosa sewing pattern in our beautiful cotton gabardine, in a medium weight jacquard, in a medium weight wool, in denim, in Prince of Wales, a tweed in summer colors like our magnificent cotton tweed woven in France.

The different sewing techniques covered in this free video sewing tutorial are to:

  • Sew a collar dart

  • Sew a fake welted pocket

  • Make a shawl collar (and achieve pretty inlay seams)

  • Sew in shoulder pads

  • Sew a comfort pleat

  • Sew rounded and lined patch pockets

  • Assemble a jacket and its lining (it's very easy if you follow the steps in the video!)

Happy sewing!
