The Fauve bob: a video tutorial is available!

The Fauve Bob is a free PDF pattern that requires very little fabric. Until now, there was a photo step-by-step guide, available on our website, for a lined version with a bias binding on the inside.

To make it even easier for you to make your own, we’re delighted to offer you a new video tutorial dedicated to the Fauve Bob, with a little ‘extra’: the assembly range shown in the video allows you to sew a lined AND reversible Bob!

I entrusted this task to Tessa, the sewing trainee (and future student) that we welcome to the workshop. Tessa’s sewing level is between beginner and intermediate, and she rose to the challenge of sewing the Fauve Bob.

List of Supplies

For this version, we chose our off-white Botanica jacquard, currently on sale, and for the lining, the cotton voile Encre, very comfortable for summer: breathable, easy to sew, its colour echoes the little blue flowers of the jacquard. All the parts of the bob are to be cut from the fabric AND the lining. All the fabric and lining parts are fused together with G700 Vlieseline.

The technical points covered in this free sewing video tutorial are:

  • Sewing rounded edges
  • Assembling a piece of work with its lining
  • Successfully using the bagging out / burrito technique to allow you to sew a reversible Bob
  • Topstitching a rounded seam
Happy sewing!
