Cicadella in Lace
Building a collection of patterns involves creating a comprehensive wardrobe, by blending more technical patterns to help you progress along with patterns that have easier construction to give an enjoyable sewing experience and a wow wow wow result ;) .
The Cicadella blouse is one of the sewing patterns which is aimed at beginner sewers, with superb finishes and available in several versions. Supported by princess cutouts, it has an adorable neckline, several sleeve lengths and finishes including a buttoned cuff in its long sleeve version which is the signature of the pattern.
A pattern that will fill all your sewing desires
The Cicadella blouse is assembled with French seams, which allows you to have high-quality finishes and to sew the pattern in a wide variety of fabrics, including lace. The pattern also includes all the information you need to have the choice of sewing a lined or non lined blouse.
In addition to a blouse pattern with the 3 sleeve variations, we have posted a step-by-step video showing you how to turn Cicadella into a dress version. The pattern presented in this step-by-step is not lined, it is sewn in our gorgeous Jardin Fauve Sable (Sand beige) and Noir (Black) viscose poplin. I really fell in love with this little dress that was easy to sew and even easier to wear, so I wanted to do it again in a fabric with which my dress would be even more wonderful, so I chose the lace released during the Fauvae Botanica collection.
My little lace dress
My new Cicadella dress is just irresistible! I made exactly the same adjustments as in the dress tutorial, and then followed the pattern assembly instructions. Nothing changes in the assembly, the pieces are just a little longer. All the information (cutting plan, fabric consumption) is available here in the dress hack article.
I’m wearing my little dress with thigh-high suede boots, a bit retro for a 60’s vibe, and I accessorized the look with heavier gold necklaces worn together from the brand Isabella (my dress isn’t the only thing precious and sophisticated.
I sewed Cicadella in Vert (Green) Scarabée lace, lined with the matching cotton voile. Our beautiful lace and cotton voiles are also available in Rouge Cherry (Cherry Red), Black (noir), Cinnamon Orange and Ecru (off white)… Which color will make you fall for making this most adorable A-line dress?
