Each new collection is a kind of journey, a great adventure in which I invite you to follow me to explore together a new universe, and a new wardrobe. This season, I wanted to infuse a slightly mystical elegance into my creations, whether through the work of the cut but also in the choice of materials or patterns. I wanted to offer you a wardrobe that celebrates femininity, pieces that have character but that they can easily make their own.
Each new pattern will join the pieces from previous collections, for a coherent Maison Fauve wardrobe that will be loved for a long period of time. To celebrate the launch of the collection, as at the start of each season, for 3 patterns purchased in paper format, we are offering you 1 PDF pattern of your choice. Put the 4 products in the basket (3 paper and 1 pdf), the free pdf pattern will automatically be deducted. The offer is valid on the entire Maison Fauve UK site, from 14th to 17th September inclusive.
Let me introduce you to Fauvae Botanica in more detail.
Inspirations of the season
For this autumn winter, I want to open the doors to a secret garden, a timeless and mysterious place, infused with inspirations that are dear to me. I love Victorian novels, Gothic mansions, ghost stories and cabinets of curiosities. Things that navigate between the strange and the beautiful. However, the clothes of my heroine of the season do not lapse into anachronism. I had fun imagining what a modern Jane Eyre's outfits would be to beat the English countryside in 2023. A comfortable and elegant wardrobe, and for which the choice of materials and colors is based on the palette and inspirations of this collection.
This autumn winter, the Fauve woman will have her hair blowing in the wind and a determined look. The cut of the clothes encourages you to raise your head and feel beautiful and proud. And the work on the details and finishes of the patterns are all small, discreet but very present reminders of the high standards and concern for beautiful things.
The new patterns of the collection
Each pattern will be distinguished by signature elements of the Maison Fauve wardrobe: a beautiful collar, pleat work, dart work, pocket finishes or even a delicately designed neckline.
The Tigris Coat
I wanted to once again to offer a beautiful coat pattern, a timeless piece that is not redundant among the already existing offerings from us. A beautiful coat is a piece to be loved for years, so it must go through the seasons without aging.
The Tigris coat plays with the formalities of the officer's coat (shoulder tabs, high collar) to elevate them: the collar rises a little higher, it has a precisely placed shoulder dart, the buttoning is slightly offset on the first button, the shoulder width is well placed without excessively marking the shoulders (and does not require shoulder pads) and the cut is straight, neither too close to the body nor too wide. We have shown it to you sewn in a magnificent Italian woolen cloth, in a soft and timeless tone, a perfect Storm Gray (Gris Orage). We have also selected for you brand new wooden and metal buttons, real beauties.
Tigris has several options: with or without welted pockets, mid-thigh or mid-calf length, of which the longer version will allow you to experiment with a new sewing technique: the lined center back split. Don't panic, our video tutorial will support you every step of the way!
The Cicadella Blouse
A pretty, perfectly cut blouse, with a delicate line but without frills, it is a wardrobe essential. Its neckline cuts into the nape of the neck (it’s such a feminine detail!) and its secret is hidden in its elaborately designed cuff.
The Cicadella blouse is the note of softness that will allow you to play with your fabrics for a constantly renewed garment.
Sewing a lace blouse is always a source of pride, the beauty of the fabric adds to that of the cut of the garment. For those wishing to make your first lined garment with absolutely perfect finishes (and without an overlocker) it is finished using French seams and the neckline and armholes are made using bias finishes, we support you at every step of the sew. All the pieces are included in the pattern, all you have to do is let yourself be guided. And this season we are offering beautiful lace and matching cotton veils.
The Dandelion Jacket
I really wanted a bomber type jacket, and until now it was missing from the Maison Fauve wardrobe. However, I wanted this lovely jacket to be neither too sporty nor too casual, a piece that resembles us and therefore the details would remind us at first glance of the Maison Fauve style. Here is Dandelion, which is full of pretty elegant touches: the cut of its belt enhanced in the back, the choice of a buttoned closure rather than a zip, a nice volume rounded off by pleats in the lower back, the right length under the small hips for comfort.
To be able to play with your sewing pattern and vary it as you wish, I offer 3 pocket finishes:
- One welted pocket
- A kangaroo pocket
- A flap pocket, but which acts as an optical illusion because the opening of the pocket is on the side and not under the flap.
All these variations, and the possibility of sewing your Dandelion in various fabrics will allow you to renew the pleasure of sewing and wearing this beautiful jacket. Soft and warm in our wool fabric, or more sophisticated and very couture in our Botanica jacquard which is available in bright ecru (off white) or encre (deep Ink blue).
Dandelion's video tutorial, which shows you all the pattern options, is available here.
The Vipère Jumpsuit and Dress
Treating yourself to a new sewing pattern is always a pleasure, and when this pattern allows you to sew two different garments, it's twice as much fun, right? The Vipère jumpsuit and dress duo is a very beautiful pattern, which renews the legendary jumpsuit in a more streamlined approach.
This sewing pattern is full of beautiful details: the neckline dart, the Italian pocket with the signature cutout, the shoulder tabs, the beautiful lowered waistband, less classic than the belting at the hollow of the waist, and the pretty pleats of the back. And it doesn't stop there: sheath stitching of the back yoke, neat interior finishes, a technical button placket but also very important for the look of the garment, whether in a dress or in a jumpsuit, the beautiful Vipère has an amazing look! And for comfort when worn, we offer you our very beautiful cotton sateen which contains a hint of elastane, and which is renewed in the colors of the seasons: a luminous mahogany (acajou) and a deep ink blue (encre) are added to the khaki and sand (sable).
Our video tutorial will detail the steps for assembling the dress and the jumpsuit.
Soliflore Dress and Blouse
I really wanted a dress with a very large collar, a piece that had a little drama, very chic, but one that we could play with.
The beautiful Soliflore will surprise you with its very high collar. Its asymmetrical buttoning is just perfect, because it allows you to wear the collar straightened but also folded down, two very different versions (because nothing is more pleasant than playing with your clothes). And to further vary the pleasures, Soliflore can even be sewn without a collar, the neckline is open and the buttoning remains present to decorate the bust. The back also hides a surprise, a set of darts which adorn the neckline.
In its dress version, the line is straight and supple, it is supported by a belt, and the leg is shown by a beautiful asymmetrical split at the bottom of the garment.
This sewing pattern will be enhanced by soft fabrics, and the purity of its line will be highlighted as much by a plain fabric with an intense color like our beautiful viscose twills, as by a characterful print like our new Fauve Jardin pattern or again the Léo print which takes on autumn tones. The beautiful fabrics are available here.
The video tutorial for the Soliflore dress version with collar is available here.
New In Fabric and Haberdashery
Fauvae Botanica is a color palette enriched with new shades: an intense red (rouge cherry) , a chocolate brown, a luminous cinnamon orange , a deep mahogany (acajou) , a revisited beetle green (scarabée). These colors are available on our soft viscose twills, our beautiful lace, our cotton voiles, and on our prints. They can also be found on our new, very elegant matte Wink shaft buttons.
The beauty of lace
For this collection, we are delighted to be able to present delicate patterned coloured lace from Maison Fauve. The embroidery work is splendid, and they are delicately openwork. To line them perfectly, discover our selection of matching cotton voiles.
A new jacquard
You know my passion for jacquard, so I did it again this season with a brand new fabric with a delicate floral pattern highlighted with lurex threads. Our Botanica jacquard, woven in Lyon, is a marvel which will be available in ecru (off white) and Encre (Ink blue). We have planned our new Poppy buttons in silver metal to go with this new precious fabric.
An exclusive print
I am very happy to present to you this new print, which I took great pleasure in drawing and producing into a textile pattern: the Jardin Fauve print. Combining floral designs inspired by old engravings and a snake motif that enchants, it is available in the range of colors of the new collection.
Our beautiful Leo is back
The gorgeous Léo with it's colourful eye returns this season, available in beetle green (scarabée) on a sand (sable) background, and in a delicious chocolate tone. It will be perfect for sewing blouses, tops and dresses.
The softness of wool
We are delighted to once again offer you a sublime deadstock fabric from the fashion house of LVMH group, a magnificent woolen cloth woven in Italy in Storm Gray (Gris Orage), which will be as beautiful sewn into a coat or a jacket. Our new gold-rimmed wooden buttons give it a luxurious touch while with our new Solaris buttons, it's a combination full of softness.
I wish you a wonderful time discovering the new collection, and I can’t wait to see your wonderful creations!
